Program Description

The mission of NMJC as a comprehensive community college is to promote success through learning. The mission of NMJC Nursing Program is to promote success through learning by facilitating the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by entry-level nurses to provide safe, patient-centered, high quality, nursing care across the lifespan that is evidence-based for diverse individuals, families, and communities. 

The NMJC Nursing Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that is taught in a state of the art facility. The two-year registered nursing education program - Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) includes classroom, laboratory, and **supervised clinical instruction in real and simulated environments. 

Applications are accepted in the nuring program from May 1st through May 20th (or the Monday after if these dates fall on a weekend) each year for admission into the fall semester. Information regarding the application process, admission requirements, and application packets are found in the Nursing Menu to the left.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the national exam (NCLEX-RN) for RN licensure.

**NMJC Associate Degree Nursing Program performs clinical in both the state of New Mexico and the state of Texas. The NMJC ADN Program is not regulated in the state of Texas under Chapter 132 of the Texas Education Code. The institution is physically located outside the state of Texas and is legally authorized and regulated in the state of New Mexico in which it is physically located. The NMJC ADN program remains subject to the applicable regulatory requirements of the state of New Mexico, as well as any applicable requirements governing the approval and practice of nursing in Texas. The institution does not maintain a physical campus or place of businees in Texas. 

Career Advancement Opportunities
Nursing program graduates may continue their education by pursuing higher degrees in nursing such as a Bachelor (BSN), Master (MSN), or Doctorate (PhD) degree as well as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice (DNP).
