Alternative Licensure Application
Elementary Education
The Alternative Licensure Program is a 12 credit program with a supervised field experience component for participants who have completed a bachelor’s degree (or higher level degree) and who want to become a teacher at the Elementary level (K-8th grade). Future students should consult the following information in preparation for acceptance into the Alternative Licensure Program.
Application Process
| Step 1 | Apply for admission to NMJC – Apply Online |
| Step 2 | Have all colleges or universities you have previously attended send your official transcripts to NMJC Registrar’s Office, 5317 Lovington Hwy., Hobbs, NM 88240. Or, have your official transcripts electronically (e-scripts) submitted to transcripts@nmjc.edu. |
| Step 3 | Register for the PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Educators Tests (Reading, Writing & Mathematics). Information can be found at www.ets.org/praxis Email confirmation page to dmarquez@nmjc.edu . |
| Step 4 | Complete Alternative Licensure Program Application and Candidate Agreement |
Although college officials will provide assistance when possible, it is the final responsibility of the student to check all phases of his or her program of study.
