Alternative Licensure Application

Elementary Education

The Alternative Licensure Program is a 12 credit program with a supervised field experience component for participants who have completed a bachelor’s degree (or higher level degree) and who want to become a teacher at the Elementary level (K-8th grade). Future students should consult the following information in preparation for acceptance into the Alternative Licensure Program.

Application Process

Step 1 Apply for admission to NMJC – Apply Online
Step 2 Have all colleges or universities you have previously attended send your official transcripts to NMJC Registrar’s Office, 5317 Lovington Hwy., Hobbs, NM 88240. Or, have your official transcripts electronically (e-scripts) submitted to transcripts@nmjc.edu.  
Step 3 Register for the PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Educators Tests (Reading, Writing & Mathematics). Information can be found at www.ets.org/praxis Email confirmation page to dmarquez@nmjc.edu .
Step 4 Complete Alternative Licensure Program Application and Candidate Agreement

 

Although college officials will provide assistance when possible, it is the final responsibility of the student to check all phases of his or her program of study.
