New Mexico Junior College’s (NMJC) Workforce Development proudly announces the introduction of its Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, aimed at meeting the rising demand for skilled healthcare professionals in the region.

Under the leadership of Vice President of Workforce Development Steve Sauceda and Dean of Workforce Training and Professional Studies Dr. Larchinee Turner, NMJC has strategically developed the CNA program to cater to the needs voiced by both aspiring students and prominent industry partners. This initiative showcases NMJC’s commitment to providing cutting-edge, in-demand industry training and creating workforce readiness within the community.

"The main factor was to provide additional non-credit, non-traditional educational options in the medical field, based on the requests we were receiving from both students and industry partners such as White Sands Healthcare and the medical-surgical section of Covenant Health,” said Turner.

Beginning on Mar. 5, 2024, and concluding on May 2, 2024, the CNA course will be conducted on Tuesday through Thursday nights from 6 pm to 9:30 pm at NMJC’s Allied Health building on the campus.

"We are starting with eight students, and will expand as we gather more insight into the growth/clinical process.” said Turner.

Interested individuals can secure their spots in the program with a registration deadline of Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. The total cost for this comprehensive course is $1,500. Registration can be completed online via NMJC’s Workforce Development website at www.NMJC.edu or in person at 4000 W. Millen Drive, Hobbs, NM 88240.
