Hobbs, NM – For the second year in a row, New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) Vice President for Workforce Development, Steve Sauceda was invited to present at the annual Workforce Development Institute (WDI) hosted by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

This year’s conference was held in New Orleans and brought together community college leaders and workforce professionals from across the nation. Sauceda’s session, titled “Unlocking Rural and Remote Potential,” highlighted NMJC’s innovative strategies for serving rural communities, building industry partnerships, and creating meaningful career pathways for students in Lea County and beyond.

“I am always honored to be invited to events like these and it’s a privilege to represent NMJC Workforce Development, Lea County, the state of NM, and share our story — of what has worked; where we’ve had to improve; and how we create opportunities for students everyday,” said Sauceda.

The Workforce Development Institute, organized annually by AACC, serves as a premier national forum for advancing workforce and economic development initiatives through community colleges. With more than 50 sessions offered during the conference, Sauceda’s presentation was selected by AACC for additional recognition. The organization published a featured article highlighting the session and its impact among workforce leaders nationwide.

Sauceda’s continued invitation to present at WDI underscores NMJC’s growing reputation as a leader in rural workforce innovation and its commitment to strengthening partnerships that support student success and regional economic growth.
