New Mexico Junior College will host its annual Pi Day Celebration, Thursday, March 14th, at the Lea County Events Center, in honor of the only holiday to celebrate a number, 3.14.  This free event will take place from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.

About 130 booths will features games to teach children and adults how math and science are used in our everyday lives, all in a fun, carnival-like way. Since it’s also Einstein’s birthday, there will be free “pie”, pizza, hot dogs, snow cones and more.

Several door prizes will be given away throughout the evening, and each booth has a prize for the kids as they learn math and science.

The U.S. House of Representatives recognized March 14 as National Pi Day in 2009. Pi is one of the oldest and most recognizable mathematical constants.  It is never-ending, and now has over 10 trillion known digits.

The event is sponsored by New Mexico Junior College, NMJC Foundation, and Mu Alpha Theta,
