NMJC Welcomes New Thunderbirds for New Student Orientation

HOBBS, N.M. — New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) welcomed 488 students to campus for New Student Orientation (NSO), providing incoming students with an opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and fellow students while learning about the resources and opportunities available at NMJC.
NSO is the beginning of the school year for students and employees alike. The campus is full again after the summer months a fair season, and the energy is high!
“New Student Orientation is an important first step in helping our students feel welcomed, connected and prepared for success at New Mexico Junior College. We want every new Thunderbird to know that they are part of a community that believes in their potential and is committed to supporting them throughout their educational journey. We look forward to welcoming our newest students to campus and helping them begin this exciting chapter with confidence,” said Cathy Mitchell, Interim President.
The college looks forward to supporting its newest students as they begin their academic journey and become part of the Thunderbird community.
Registration is open through Friday, August 21, 2026.
