New Mexico Junior College attended the 97th Annual State Convention, held May 27 through 30, 2025. Representing the college were Recruiter, Deira Fernandez, and Professor of Agriculture, Lance Widner, who shared the space with other colleges from across the state to showcase the exciting opportunities available in higher education.
The convention featured interactive exhibits, guest speakers, and breakout sessions intended to enhance collaboration between students and professionals. As part of the College fair, New Mexico Junior College representatives provided resources and information to prospective students, including details about the college’s agriculture program, scholarships, and admissions process.
“We had many great conversations with students who lit up when we talked about our Animal Science and Equine programs,” said Fernandez. “It’s always inspiring to see how passionate students are, and we are here to help turn that passion into a future.”
The convention was a vibrant gathering of students from all of New Mexico, educators, and industry professionals, offering workshops and networking opportunities. At the New Mexico Junior College booth, visitors learned about the college’s state-of-the-art animal science teaching area, hands-on labs, and supportive learning environment, which are designed to give students real-world experience from day one.
Whether students were interested in agriculture or other programs, New Mexico Junior College offered clear paths forward and a warm welcome to anyone ready to learn more.
The college is already looking forward to next year’s convention and continuing to connect with the next generation of agricultural leaders.
