spring. Commencement is an important event within our academic year. We celebrate
the accomplishments of our graduates, and draw inspiration from their achievements
as they seek to find their place in our world.

NMJC President, Dr. Sharp, will recognize all students with their individual degrees and he will also officially confer all degrees.
Anyone can join! You are more than welcome to have a watch party anywhere you want!
Graduates will be honored virtually, but they will still receive a physical diploma.
Diplomas will be mailed along with their 2021 tassel, honor chord (if applicable), NMJC Alumni lapel pin, program, and a personal letter from Dr. Sharp in June.
2021 Virtual Commencement FAQ's
No. Unfortunately, there is a lot of work that goes in to preparing an in-person ceremony. This is something that takes months to prepare, and we do not wish to create any undue burden on our students and staff.
Deadline to apply is April 16th. If you have already applied for graduation in Fall 2020 or earlier spring semester, you DO NOT need to apply again.
You can visit with an Academic Advisor to check up on your degree progress. Stop by Ben Alexander, or you can set up an appointment ahead of time. You can also find general graduation requirements through here.

Yes. The ceremony will remain available for viewing after the ceremony is over.
Yes. We will have your name and degree type announced.
Diplomas will be mailed to the graduate's address stated on their graduation application. They will also receive a 2021 tassel, honor chord (if applicable), program, NMJC Alumni lapel pin, and personal letter from Dr. Sharp in June.
Yes. All eligible students that have applied for graduation will be included in the Commencement Program. You will receive a printed copy of the program with your diploma.
Yes and no. We will be providing students who have applied for graduation an opportunity to take a picture with a professional photographer with their regalia.
If you wish to submit a personal picture you may do so instead, the deadline is April 16 at midnight. You can send your picture to tbirdtv@nmjc.edu.
