Women's Heritage Tea

celebrate women

Saturday, March 16, 2019

We are hosting a Women’s Heritage Tea to honor women from Lea County. The event is free to the public.

The honorees are Sandra Newell, distinguished educator and administrator; Evelyn Rising, NMJC Board Member; Dorothy Runnells, long-time Lea County resident; Karen Salb, owner and artistic director of Maciolek School of Dance and fine arts patron; and Irene Salgado, community leader and former NMJC Board Member.

“This is the second year we are honoring local Lea County women at our annual Women’s History Month celebration,” said Mary Lyle, Director of Education for the museum. “We adopted the theme, ‘She believed she could, so she did!’ as a slogan for the event because it expresses they qualities that enabled these special women to achieve so much,” Lyle continued.

The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. High tea will be served about 3:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to wear their favorite, silliest, and most beautiful hat for a chance to win a door prize.
