October 16 – Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College will host Senior Day on Friday, October 20, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Senior Day is an opportunity for all Lea County high school seniors to come to the campus of NMJC and experience all that it has to offer firsthand. High school seniors from Jal, Eunice, Hobbs, Lovington, and Tatum are invited to attend, as well as home-schooled juniors and seniors.
Students will receive a highlight tour of the campus, an opportunity to visit with campus organizations and departments, a free lunch, plus numerous giveaways and a chance to win gift certificates, T-shirts, small gifts, and an iPod nano.
Tours will begin from 8:30 to 9:10 a.m. in front of the Ben Alexander Student Learning Center, followed by performances at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. by NMJC’s performing arts departments and the ThunderSpirits, NMJC’s cheerleaders.
A free hamburger and hotdog cookout in the courtyard will follow the morning’s events. Snow cones, popcorn, and cotton candy will also be provided, and faculty and members of campus organizations will be available to answer questions. Students will have an assortment of other festivities to enjoy, including personalized hologram cards and silicone bracelets, as well as Polk-a-Dot the Clown. “In addition to the solid educational experience that NMJC offers,” said DeMond Thomas, Coordinator of Student Activities, “we also wanted to let our area seniors know that college life here can be a lot of fun.”
