NMJC to Hold Scholarship Workshops
2/11/2010 1:00:53 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. In order to help students learn how to successfully apply for—and receive—scholarships to offset the cost of a college education, New Mexico Junior College will be holding two free workshops in February.
The NMJC Foundation Scholarship Workshops, presented in conjunction with the Office of Enrollment Management, will be held Tuesday, February 23 from 6-7 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 27 from 9-10 a.m. in Mansur Hall, Room 105.
The workshops will teach students how to properly apply for scholarships and write personal essays, which are required by most colleges in order to be considered for scholarship funding.
According to Dr. Michele Clingman, Dean of Enrollment Management, the workshops will guide students through the entire process. “Students are sometimes overwhelmed with the idea of filling out applications and writing essays, so we’ll try to simplify things and show them what they need to do to help their application stand out from the rest,” she said. “It’s really not that difficult, and it’s intended to help students learn the basics of applying for scholarships at any college anywhere.”
Partipants are asked to bring a USB flash drive.
