Ford ASSET Kick-off Luncheon Held at NMJC
9/24/2008 3:31:50 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. Every two years, the Ford ASSET program at New Mexico Junior College begins with a new group of students. As always, the program was started off right with a Kick-Off Luncheon held on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans and other treats were provided by the participating Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Dealerships.
Speakers at the luncheon included NMJC Dean, Dr. Mary Jane Ward, NMJC Vice President for Instruction, Dr. John Gratton, ASSET Coordinator and Instructor, Dr. Randy Whicker and Technical Support Operations Manager Troy Kimmerle of Ford Motor Company.
"You are getting the best of the best right here at NMJC," said Kimmerle to the students, in reference to the quality of training that Ford ASSET instructors offer.
Whicker extolled his "guys in the blue shirts" with a story of someone coming up to him and saying that these students were one of the nicest groups of young men. Whicker and ASSET instructor Tim Roberts presented each attending student with a Ford ASSET T-Shirt, patch, and safety glasses before the conclusion of the luncheon.
