Registration for NMJC Classes Still Available

8/26/2008 2:21:25 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College is taking the stress out of college classes for some students this fall through audit classes. In auditing a class, a student enjoys all the benefits of a classroom experience without the hassle of tests or concerns over attendance. In fact, the main difference is that no grade - and therefore no credit - is given for the course.

According to Dr. Michele Clingman, Dean of Enrollment Management at NMJC, many people would like to take courses on a particular subject, but they're put off by the thought of taking tests. "This is a great way to have the best of both possible worlds," said Clingman. "People can learn more about a subject they're interested in, but there's no pressure about grades or attendance. Best of all, students still have time to sign up for this semester. And because senior citizens don't have to pay institutional fees, they can enjoy an interesting class with no stress at a reduced price. It's a good thing."

Students can sign up to audit classes through Friday, September 5. They can choose from almost any on-campus class that is being offered this fall. Costs for audited classes are the same as for credit courses.
