NMJC Hosts Construction Technology Open House
11/20/2006 12:37:18 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. To promote its Construction Technology program, New Mexico Junior College will host an Open House on Monday, Nov. 27, at 7:00 p.m. on the Hobbs High School campus in the Construction Technology Lab, 500 Wing, Room 507.
According to NMJC's Dean of Careers and Technology, Mary Jane Ward, the open house is an opportunity to learn more about a wide array of courses the college offers in field safety, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, site layout, sprinkler systems, electrical and field work, and other types of construction technology.
"This is a great opportunity for anyone who's interested in entering the construction industry, or even those already in the industry, who want to advance their knowledge and skills. It would also be perfect for employers who want to provide additional training for their employees in any of these areas," said Ward.
NMJC's Construction Technology Program was first offered last fall. According to Ward, the program has provided a simple way to earn certification in skills necessary for the construction industry. "These courses are specifically designed to meet the high demand for qualified construction workers that our region's currently facing. And because they're offered in the evenings, students can continue to work their day jobs."
