NMJC Offers Sneak Preview for Students, Parents
2/27/2008 11:27:16 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. Students who are considering taking classes at New Mexico Junior College this summer or fall can soon get a bit of a preview to help them decide -- and possibly win prizes and a scholarship while they're at it.
On Tuesday, March 4, NMJC will host an informal Meet & Greet in the lobby of the Ben Alexander Student Learning Center from 6-8 p.m. There, staff from counseling, financial aid, the NMJC Foundation, and athletics, as well as faculty from various academic departments, will answer questions and provide information to interested students and parents.
The two-hour come-and-go event showcases the Student Center's "one-stop-shop" concept in which all services for student enrollment are conveniently located within a few steps of one another.
Also located nearby is the NMJC bookstore, which offers several options nowadays for purchasing textbooks. According to Pam Bickerton, Director of Bookstore Services, in addition to the traditional method of coming in to shop for texts, students can also order books online and choose whether to pick them up later in the bookstore or have them shipped directly to the student. "If they're already approved," said Bickerton, "students can even use their financial aid online."
According to Admission Specialist Adrienne Betzen, there will also be door prizes, refreshments, and an opportunity to register for a $500 scholarship provided by the NMJC Foundation. For more information about the Meet & Greet, please contact the Office of Recruiting at 575.492.2587.
