Women's Heritage Tea to Honor Five Lea County Women

To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame is hosting a Women’s Heritage Tea, Saturday, March 10 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Five women from Lea County will be honored at the event. The event is free to the public.
The five women are Wilma Brooks, a long-time educator; Dinora Guthrie, founder of Options, Inc.; Bonnie Moran businesswoman and philanthropist; Joan Tucker former president of University of the Southwest; and Joyce Walker, arts advocate and long-time music educator.
“We wanted to do something new for Women’s History Month, by honoring our local Lea County women who have made a difference in this community,” said Mary Lyle, Director of Education at the museum. “Our theme this year is ‘She believed she could, so she did!’. These women embody the spirit of leadership and accomplishments.”
The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. High tea will be served about 3:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to wear their favorite, silliest, and most beautiful hat for a chance to win a door prize.
