Four NMJC Student-Athletes Sign with Universities
11/16/2015 12:05:30 p.m. - Hobbs, NM.
Four student-athletes at New Mexico Junior College have signed early letters of intent with their university of choice.
Two of the students are basketball athletes: Jalin Hart will be attending Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX and Randy Haynes will be heading to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. The other two students are baseball athletes: Travon Benton will be playing for Texas State University in San Marcos, TX and Daniel Herrera signed with the University of New Mexico.
“We are always proud when our student-athletes are recruited to premier four-year universities based on their academic and athletic success at the New Mexico Junior College,” says Jeremy Capo, Director of Athletics at NMJC. “We strive to teach them that they need to take care of their business in the class room first. It doesn’t matter how athletically gifted you are, if you don’t excel in the classroom. That’s the true measurement of a champion. We know that when they sign with a university, these student-athletes are prepared as scholars and athletes.”
The students will be attending the universities in Fall 2016.
