NMJC Hosts Annual Automotive Service Technology Invitational Competitioin

2/5/2014 11:21:03 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. Students from twelve high schools in New Mexico, Texas and Utah will be competing in the annual Automotive Service Technology Invitational Competition Thursday, February 6, 2014 at New Mexico Junior College in the Don Whitaker Automotive Technology Center. Competition begins at 9:00 a.m.

Sixty-four students are expected to attend and will be tested on their skills in areas such as brakes, suspension, engines, transmissions and general automotive knowledge.  Both written and hands-on testing will take place.  Top prizes include three students each receiving a $500 scholarship from New Mexico Junior College Foundation and other top prizes. 

Judges include management from Ford and General Motors along with people from local dealerships.
