Reporting a Crime

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to report any occurrence of crime immediately. Any criminal activity or emergency can be reported to Campus Security personnel or to the Lea County Sheriff's Department. Upon receipt of a call, campus security will respond to the site of the complaint. If a criminal act has been committed, the Sheriff's Office or the State Police will be notified. These agencies will prepare and submit criminal incident reports along with the NMJC Security Department. The Campus Security Department is available for calls 24 hours a day and can be contacted directly through their cell phone at 575.399.2033 or via dispatcher at 575.392.5843. The Campus Security Office is located the west side of the campus. NMJC also has a central switchboard operator available at 575.392.4510, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. including holidays. The Switchboard Office is located in the Ben Alexander Student Center. Students and employees of the college are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the Security Department.
