Automotive Technology

ATP logo

Automotive manufacturers have long realized that the need for trained, entry-level technicians is a high priority in today’s fast-paced world. Most manufacturers are trying to curb this need by placing training programs at colleges and technical schools around the country. The excellent GM & Ford two-year programs at NMJC are examples of this type of corporate program.

Yet, even with these programs, the need for trained entry-level technicians is growing. Non-manufacturer supported programs like the Automotive Technology Program at NMJC help fill this void.

The Automotive Technology Program at NMJC, under the direction of Professor Terry Holladay, has passed a very intense review, an on-site study and on-site inspection by ASE/NATEF. This is the highest certification available nationwide for automotive training programs. All three programs at NMJC have qualified and been certified by ASE/NATEF as master certified programs. This is important to students, because it means they will receive the most up-to-date training on the latest systems, work with the latest automobiles, equipment and technology during their training.

The Automotive Technology Program is a two-year Associates of Applied Science degree program; however, the option of a one-year certificate is available if so desired.

Students who have graduated from the Automotive Technology Program at NMJC are employed by many different new car dealerships, fleets, specialty shops, parts outlets, automotive machine shops and independent full-service centers.
