Weather Is Deciding Factor in Golf Tournament

March 2, 3 -- Tyler, TX. NMJC golfers did not fare well at the Tyler Junior College Spring Intercollegiate in Bullard, Texas. It rained for the entire 18 holes. During play, water was nearly ankle deep on the fairways and the greens had water standing in them.

Scores were the highest coach Black had ever seen them since he started coaching here. It was so bad, their top player who has one of the lowest averages in the nation at 69.3, shot a 92 in the first round.

It might have seemed ludicrous to keep playing, but the team traveled to the other side of Texas for this tournament.

“The team would have been just as effective if they had strapped golf clubs to their backs and hopped in a pool,” said Golf Coach James Black.
