March 3 -- Hobbs, NM. Head Baseball Coach, Ray Birmingham, was nervous about playing El Paso College for a good reason. They are the defending Region V champions, which means they beat all of the Texas Region V teams last year to go to the tournament.

“Their coach is outstanding and they’re just a great all around ball club,” says Birmingham. Also, the El Paso baseball coach has asked Birmingham to help him coach the Olympic Team next year.

“The story of the weekend was Kevin Knowles, from Levelland , Texas,” said Birmingham. After struggling with the bat as of late, he pounded 10 dingers in this series, and helped NMJC win three out of four games.

The T-Birds play Clarendon College for a four-game set Friday and Saturday, with doubleheaders at noon both days.
