Thunderbirds and Frank Phillips Split Again
April 12 -- Hobbs, NM. When the opposing pitcher has a 98-mph fastball, not all goes your way. For the T-Birds, it managed to go their way half-of-the-time as they split two more games against Frank Phillips College Saturday. The first game resulted in a 3-1 loss. In the second game, NMJC found that magic again. This time, the magic came in the form of homers by Ryan Johnson, Luis Rodriguez and Adam Fry. Lefty, Drew Jackson found some magic of his own as he only allowed one run on three hits in seven innings as they chalked up a 7-1 victory. “Their pitcher is definitely headed towards the big leagues one day. Drew Jackson really pitched a great game Saturday. It was a big win,” said Coach Ray Birmingham.
Thunderbirds and Frank Phillips Split Doubleheader
April
11 -- Hobbs, NM. Despite the fact NMJC’s baseball roster is continually
losing weight due to injuries and other infractions throughout the season, they
manage to win. In Friday’s two games against Frank Phillips College, they
lost the first game 6-4. However, that Thunderbird magic returned in game two
as they bounced back to win 10-6. “Despite all the adversity this team
has faced, the kids on the ball team are still battling,” said Coach Ray
Birmingham.
