While with AAA, French worked out with former Hobbs catcher Brandon Harper and Hobbs resident Brandon Claussen. Chris will be in short season ball with the Nationals this year in Vermont. Former RHP and All-American Johnny Lujan is in AA with the Chicago White Sox and is tapped for the big leagues in August. Chris Bennett and Matt Averitt (2004-06 RHP) are two of the three top pitchers in the Lone Star Conference at Northeastern Oklahoma University. They have thrown well for and won 11 of the team’s 20 victories. Averitt threw a four-hit shutout against Central Oklahoma on 4-7-07. Travis Wallace is at UT-Tyler and leads the team in homers. Ricky Ibarz is the number one pitcher at Troy State. Amadis Padilla (2004-06) is one of the top homerun hitters and batting average leaders at national NAIA powerhouse Embry-Riddle University in Florida. Amadis hit .371 last year with 20 extra-base hits. He was named to the Florida Conference all-conference team. Kory Johns is catching at Houston Baptist and will graduate on time. Renny Osuna is in Arizona with the Texas Rangers.
