Richard
Lloyd was born in Niagara Falls, New York, and graduated from Lewiston-Porter
senior High School in 1976. He received a Bachelor's degree from Ball State
University, majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Athletic Training.
He went on to receive his Master's in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois
University, where he held a graduate assistantship in Athletic Training. Mr.
Lloyd is currently working on his Doctorate in Community College Leadership
through New Mexico State University, projecting graduation in the summer of
2004.
Richard received his National Athletic Trainers Association certification in March of 1982 and also maintained athletic training licenses in Texas and New Mexico. Past work experiences include ten years with Canyon Independent School District in Canyon, Texas, where he taught Health Education and carried out the duties of the Athletic Trainer. The 2003-2004 season will be his thirteenth at NMJC.
The Lloyd family includes his wife Diane, and their four children, Kaitlin, Nathan, and twins Brenna and Caroline.
Shelley Barrera, Assistant Athletic Trainer
Shelley
Barrera is a native New Mexican, born in Hobbs, and raised in Lovington. Graduated
from Lovington High School in 1985, received her Bachelor’s Degree in
Science from College of the Southwest in 2001, majoring in Athletic Training.
Shelley became certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association
in August of 2002, and is also licensed by the State of New Mexico. This athletic
season will be her third at New Mexico Junior College
She is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology from UTPB, with an anticipated finishing date of 2004.
Shelley is raising two daughters, Whitney is 16, and Jessica is 15, both keep their mother busy with school activities.
