The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) requires that postsecondary institutions participating in federal student aid programs make certain disclosures to enrolled and prospective students, parents, employees, and the public. The following information is disclosed to you in compliance with federal law. Information Concerning NMJC's institutional and specialized accreditations is available in the Catalog. Following guidelines established by the Board, all academic programs are assessed through a formal program review process on a regular basis. In addition to review of the program's NMJC continually reviews and assesses the educational programs through student outcomes assessment. Reviews and assessment reports are available from the Institutional Research Office.

Information regarding public safety at NMJC is provided in the Student Handbook. The Handbook contains information about police and pubic safety resources, reporting crimes, emergency notification, missing student policy, crime prevention, campus facilities, residence housing security, sexual harassment policy, and drug/alcohol policy. College Bookstore

The NMJC Bookstore is located in the Ben Alexander Student Learning Center. The online NMJC Course Schedule includes a link to textbook and required materials for each course as soon as the information is available for a given term. Textbook information is also available directly from the NMJC Bookstore website.

Confidentiality of Student Records (FERPA)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. NMJC publishes a FERPA notification that delineates student rights under FERPA. Additionally, NMJC information on confidentiality of student records is published in the Catalog.

Information concerning the cost of attending NMJC is available from the Office of Student Financial Aid. These costs consist of tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, and any additional costs for a program in which the student is enrolled or expresses an interest.

New Mexico Higher Education Department Complaint Process

In accordance with the new Federal Program Integrity rules effective July 1, 2011, the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) will review complaints regarding public and private postsecondary institutions in New Mexico as well as New Mexico resident students attending out-of-state institutions. 

NMHED will receive complaints that were unable to be resolved through the institution’s internal complaint process.  Generally, in order to file a complaint with NMHED, you must have already filed with and received a response from the institution which you are complaining against.  If you have legitimate reasons preventing you from filing a complaint with the institution, you must provide supporting documentation to that regard.
