Corrections Academy Rules and Regulations
All students shall:
- Comply with all rules, regulations and procedures contained herein. Students
will conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen, perform all duties in a thorough
and conscientious manner, without hesitation, and carry out all orders, commands,
and instructions given by authorized personnel.
- Not commit any acts that are incompatible or in conflict with public service
or that might cause any unfavorable reflection upon either the Academy and/or
their respective employee.
- The instructors desire and encourage questions, provided they represent any
honest attempt to gain information. Students must have an open mind; a sincere
interest and a desire to learn theory , techniques, and procedure in order to
successfully complete this program. Note taking will be required and may be
inspected.
- Courtesy will be extended to all visiting instructors and visitors. You will
address instructors and visitors as Sir, Mister, Ma'am, Miss or Ms. Uniformed
officers will be addressed by their appropriate rank. Instructors are not referred
to on a first name basis.
- Students who have to leave a class in session will leave in a quiet manner without
disturbing the class.
- Each student will be required to bring the necessary notes, books, handouts,
and equipment to class for the scheduled subject.
- Students shall be prompt in reporting for all classes, inspections, and assignments.
- Be professional in use of proper language, thereby limiting the use of profane,
vulgar, or obscene language.
- Smoke only in designated areas.
- Eat and drink food only in designated areas.
- Not mark, deface, or damage posted notices, furniture, equipment and or other
property belonging to New Mexico Junior College and/or any other agency involved
in training.
- Not use and/or possess intoxicating liquor or controlled substances in any form
within the Training Center or related facilities. (Except medication properly
prescribed by a licensed physician.)
This list is not meant to be totally inclusive and the Academy handbook addresses
issues such as dress, grooming, equipment, classroom demeanor, physical training,
absences, tardiness, sickness and weapons.
