Computer Information Systems

Welcome to NMJC's Computer Information Systems (CIS) program! The goal of the CIS program is to offer a fundamental study of best practices in computer science based on relevant advisement of our business/IT community. Upon successful graduation with either an AAS degree or a certificate students are prepared to enter the workforce or prepared for transfer to an institution of higher education to further their academic endeavors.

The CIS degree or certificate plan provides students with coursework covering basic and advanced computer applications, spreadsheets, programming, and ethics in technology. Students also study the verbal, written, and teamwork skills needed for a professional CIS career.

Concerning career and advancement opportunities, graduates of the program can pursue careers such as Network Technician, Assistant Network Administrator, PC Technician, Workstation Support Technician, or Computer Systems Technician.
